Adversity, faith, flexibility, commitment, and strength are a few words that best describe the last two weeks here at work with my Elite Physical Therapy family. Collectively, and individually, we have all evolved through this pandemic. We will continue to demonstrate resiliency as we progress through the next several months.
As I reflected on these thoughts of our team, I thought of no better opportunity to call on you, our patient and friend, to focus on these same words for your individual health.
This is a calling, in a sense. If you have not begun to do so already, I encourage you to reflect on your own picture of health. According to Louisiana Department of Health, the *reported comorbidities impacting patients with the most severe cases of COVID-19 are reflective of the big picture we see in our patient population suffering with chronic muscle and joint pain.
It’s been reported for decades that Louisiana is ranked in top 3 of states with poorest health. Citizens of our great state deserve better. The struggle with controlling what creates obesity, type 2 diabetes, and the impacts of smoking are real. It’s time we own up to it.
This is not new information. Our culture is deep rooted in traditions that lend to these chosen challenges. As I described our team, knowing we are not perfect, I am confident, that as a community and culture, we are both strong and resilient. We have proven this over and over. It’s time to rise again to a greater lifelong challenge!
Moving forward, let’s transform and better ourselves, our immune systems – together. Our team at Elite is here to help you. Elite Physical Therapy remains open at this time! We are following all mandates by DHH and have implemented our own, even more stringent protocols, in order to be available for our patients, friends, and community. Through the month of April, we continue to see and assess new patients in the clinic in order to determine the best treatment pathway for each individual via in-person clinic visits, telehealth, or an at home program.
I have been practicing with Bart for 20 years. This community has stood by us every day of our journey. Please understand that we are here for you now as much as ever. Maybe you find yourself in the dumps one day and just need to connect with another human being – we are here to lift you up in those regards, too. We are Central Louisiana and we are here to serve.
