Dear Abby

Dear Abby,

Sometimes when I wake up in the morning, my neck is stiff and I am unable to turn my head to look behind me? I am guessing something is happening while I am sleeping at night. I tend to sleep with two pillows because I do not like to sleep flat. What are some things that I can do to relieve my reoccurring morning neck pain?

Sincerely,

Cora Mae

Dear Mrs. Cora Mae,

Thank you for your question! Many people struggle with this daily, me included! Try elevating the head of your bed/mattress without having to sleep on two pillows. This will put less stress on your neck! Try some light stretches and shoulder movements to loosen up as well before you get out of bed in the morning. Also try a memory foam pillow which can give firm support to your head while molding to the perfect comfort level for you.
