SERVANT LEADERSHIP: DOING OUR PART TO BUILD OUR COMMUNITY

By: Don Cassano, MPT, DPT, OCS

As I reflect on this announcement of, and have great appreciation for, the journey my Elite Physical Therapy business partner, Bart Jones, will embark on for the next three years, servant-leadership is what comes to mind. Robert Greenleaf said, “It begins with the natural feeling that one wants to serve, serve first,” noting “the servant prepares himself or herself to lead by a process of growth through experience.”

Bart and I have worked side by side for nearly 21 years. It’s been an amazing ride, not only building a business, and supporting our patients but also serving our community. Bart was recently elected by our state professional association, APTA Louisiana, to serve as President of the organization for the next three years. This honor comes with commitment.

As president, Bart will serve and lead our state membership with his 35+ years of physical therapy experience. His leadership will draw on his clinical knowledge, entrepreneurial experience, and his passion to serve his patients. As president of APTA Louisiana he will also represent our state at the national level of the American Physical Therapy Association. Service by our team members represents the long-standing commitment and culture at Elite Physical Therapy to serve and lead in our community.

A few recent service highlights from our Elite Physical Therapy Team include:

  • 55+ combined years serving as sideline management for Central Louisiana high school football games. Elite Physical Therapist Marcus Walker, Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), covered every Alexandria Senior High football game this year – all the way to the State Championship.
  • Don Cassano, DPT, OCS was appointed by Governor Bobby Jindal to the Louisiana Physical Therapy Board, served and was elected by its members to serve as Chairman. He served three years on the board, which is tasked as the regulatory agency which protects the people of Louisiana.
  • Bart was previously a Board Member of the England Authority as a representative for the City of Alexandria
  • Abby Leblanc, DPT currently serves as Central Louisiana District Chair for APTA Louisiana and serves on its Board.

In 2021, we encourage you to be a part, do your part, and become a part of the solution!

Congrats Bart from your Elite Physical Therapy Team!
